Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival at Colombo
On your arrival to Colombo Airport, our representatives will greet you at
airport and escort you to hotel for some refreshment. After some time, we
will usher you to a short trip of Colombo city which includes places like ‘Fort’.
It is the commercial city centre of Colombo and built by Portuguese in 16th
century. We also take you to Pettah, a magnificent Hindu Temple decorated
with stone carvings, Kelaniya Buddhist Temple and an 18th century Old Dutch
Church.
Day 2: Colombo to Sigiriya (via Pinnawela)
Next morning i.e on Day 2, we will proceed for Pinnawela Elephant
Orphanage. It was established by Sri Lanka government to rehabilitate
orphaned elephants. We will spend our entire morning here by watching
orphaned elephants being fed and bathe by the orphanage staffs
. Thereafter, we will proceed towards Sigiriya and check-in to hotel for a
two night stay.
Day 3: Sigiriya
On day 3, after an early breakfast, we will proceed for an exciting
trekking trip to Sigiriya Rock. This rock was built by King Kassapa in the
5th century A.D. This rock is a treasure trove of rare art. In one of the
pockets of this rock are beautified with frescos of the heavenly maidens of
Sigiriya.
Afterwards, we will proceed to Polannurawa, the 2nd capital of Sinhala
King, who ruled the region in 11th & 12th century A.D. The entire
landscape is dotted with huge man made reservoirs. Among all of them ‘Parakarma
Samudra’ is the most famous one. Sigiriya is also famous for its
numerous monuments which includes” Gal Vihara” complex. This
complex has standing and seated sculptures of Lord Buddha. Thereafter, we
will return to the return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Sigiriya to Kandy (via Dambulla)
Next morning, we will leave Sigiriya and proceed to Kandy via Dambulla.
This place is famous for its rock cave temple, dated back to Ist century
B.C. This temple of Dambulla has 5 caves in which statues and paintings of
Lord Buddha are available. Thereafter, we will again start our journey to
Kandy en-route visiting the Spice Garden at Matale.
On reaching Kandy, we will first check in to hotel for some rest and
refreshments. In the late afternoon we will visit the Temple of Tooth Relic
of Buddha. After that we will return to hotel to witness a Sri Lankan
Cultural Show and magnificent fire walking display.
Day 5: Kandy to Colombo
Day 5 is the last day of our tour. After breakfast, we will escort you to
Colombo airport for your return journey.
